Christian Radio
Alaska’s harsh environment and rough terrain can make it difficult to spread the gospel. A creative and effective solution to this problem is by making use of the airwaves. Since 1982, AVM and Moody Broadcasting have teamed up to send the living message of hope from God’s Word to portions of Alaska both on and off the road system. A variety of national radio programs and Christian music can be listened to by believers whether they live in Alaska’s cities or a remote village.
More than 100 native villages are without a church and many with churches have no pastors, with Christian radio many forgotten people are able to hear His Word daily. When bitter cold and winter darkness sets in on the villages the light of Jesus can still be found with the turn of a dial.
Currently AVM operates or assists in the operation of 10 FM translators across communities in south-central and south-western Alaska.
